MY STORY
I have been painting ever since my childhood, and just like then, I feel the love and joy when I am creating a new piece. At school, I was never very good at many subjects but art and creative drawing was where I excelled, and felt that art was really part of me and what I felt happy with. I painted for so many years just for the love of it, and it wasn’t until more recent years that I wanted to take my passion to a whole new level.
Nowadays, not being content with having a full time day job and having the day to day feeling of not feeling satisfied, the feeling of being a full time artist and giving everything iv’e got in this wonderful creative world is more important today than it has ever been.
For many years I created realistic art such as landscapes and animal art, but in recent years I had an urge to experiment and try to find a new style and sense of identity or branding, something that would give me a buzz, something special, and something different. I found that something when I started creating a new style of artwork, something that takes several stages to finish, something that really embraces and captivates me, and the feel of love and passion when I’m creating each piece, something I call getting into my zone, something artists will know only too well how positively happy and excited you are when your skillfully creating your work, and it just works. Every piece I create is unique and as such, really is a piece of me. I have a passion for color and depth, and I feel that shows in my work. I also love working with epoxy resin, of which I use on the pieces on the deep edge stretch canvases. I use quality artists materials and I make the stretched canvas myself.
My work is of a contemporary style of art, some of my work are of an abstract background and stencil work, and lately have moved onto 100% abstract work. The funny thing is years ago I thought i’d never do abstract, but now I have tried it, I cant get enough of it. I generally start off with very little vision in my head, instead I let the artwork take control. The wonderful thing about abstract work is how it is not designed to look like anything specific, which in my mind opens up a whole new artistic world.
MY STUDIO
Small studio, big passion. I don’t have a massive studio space, instead I have improvised. I have transformed one half of my bedroom into my studio, which is great as I get the most natural light coming into that room, and having that natural light is very important. I have purposely built storage units and work spaces that really work well and as the studio is in quite a small space, it is also very adaptable, exactly what I need according to what kind of art I am working on.
